A Canny Raptor Deer

Started the weekend at Burdon Moor, nothing of note but the resident Kestrel was on the hunt and a good few mixed finch flocks were flying around the fields. It was then onto Far Pastures where a couple of Red Kite and Buzzard put on a display. A Roe Deer put in a brief appearance until someone going into the wood yard spooked it. A Dragonfly (hawker sp) was on the path near the car park and this Common Darter was on the fence by the horse field.

Kestrel. Oh for blue sky

Roe Deer

This might be the last Dragonfly I get a picture of this season

The Red Deer rut……

……had not quite started when we went to Fountains Abbey at the weekend but I took some shots anyway. Weather permitting I will try again this weekend.

Red Deer Stag

This young male was sniffing and tasting the air as he could smell the stag in the picture above. He had already been chased off by this bigger stag so he left well alone.
